Proficiency Hierarchy
The four levels of proficiency within Globecon’s professional development
services are illustrated and described below: Level
I: Foundations of Finance
The “Foundations of Finance” series of approximately 25 Self-Instructional
Guides cover the analytical, product and market knowledge required
to advise clients and generate revenue in today's market. The self-instructional
approach enables users to work through all or selected sections of the
guides, depending on their existing knowledge. Each guide includes explanations,
examples and exercises. A Mastery Test is also available for each guide.
Using Foundations
of Finance Self-Instructional Guides, institutions can raise the level
and improve the consistency of foundation knowledge across the entire
organization – without pulling employees away from their jobs. The
guides can be licensed for institution-wide usage, and can be published
with the financial institution’s design and logo.
Level
II: Tools of the Trade
The “Tools of the Trade” series includes approximately 35
Self-Instructional Guides and a range of workshop
programs that build upon the Foundations of Finance.
The workbooks
are more advanced or specialized, and include practice areas such as real
estate, financial institutions and wealth management.
The workshops
are intensive, high-value sessions built around customized case studies
and real-world applications. All workshops are customized to the needs
of the client bank; many include presentations by internal managers and
product specialists and case studies built around existing clients and
actual bank transactions.
Level
III: Mastery Classes
Globecon’s Mastery Classes are facilitated, low-key, small-group
discussions organized around specific transactions, financial situations,
clients or policies. They are designed to help students define issues,
brainstorm possible solutions and develop action plans focused on new
product development, marketing initiatives and/or bank strategies.
- In Strategy
Sessions senior line managers select several targeted finance situations
and/or needs. In an intensive one-day session, Globecon facilitates
a discussion of the client’s characteristics and needs, institutional
capabilities that address those needs, and actions the organization
should take, followed by the development, positioning and presentation
of the proposals.
- Capital
Markets/Corporate Finance Market Update Sessions help specialists reverse
engineer innovative deals and execute their own transactions. These
small, facilitated workshops apply financial engineering tools to bring
together investor and issuer clients.
Level
IV: Leadership & Mentorship
The Leadership & Mentorship level addresses the soft skills that finance
professionals require to attract others to well-reasoned and logical points
of view, to communicate effectively, and to relate well to others. These
skills enable finance professionals to assume positions of influence by
assembling and leveraging a variety of resources that address problems
and opportunities throughout the organization. This highest-level skill
category includes workshop content to build specific leadership/mentorship
capabilities as well as executive coaching to advise key decision-makers
on how best to frame business opportunities and manage their human capital
to achieve superior results.
